The family of Alfred Knapik, retired USAF Master Sergeant, has requested PGR participate in a memorial service at NCVC, 11800 Gas Point Rd., Igo. Alfred spent 20 yrs in the USAF, 1947 thru 1968. At age 18 years , he was involved in the Berlin Airlift, later airlifting supplies to Vietnam and airlifting missiles to silo in the USA.  He received The Air Force Commendation Medal for his training of fight engineers during the Vietnam war..

   Alfred will be missed by his wife Diana , his five children ,other family and friends.

Alfred Knapik

Born December 5, 1930 in Amsterdam, NY, Al Knapik, of Happy Valley, passed quietly on August 25th, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center.
Al is survived by his wife, Diane, his sons Robert, Ronald, Andy and Richard Knapik and daughter, Carolyn Knapik Bangerter. He also left seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday, October 1st at 11:30 a.m. at the Veteran's Cemetery in Igo. A reception will follow at the Knapik home in Happy Valley. In lieu of flowers, if wished, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society or the Northern California Alzheimer's Association .
