In 2004 my wife and I had a new home built on three acres, not far from the family farm homesteaded in 1837 by my gggrandfather, that I grew up on. I retired in 2005 at the age of 59, and have not looked back. Most mornings I start my day out by joing a bunch of friends in town for breakfast. During the summer months I find plenty to keep me busy, mowing grass, tending to our pond, etc... My wife loves gardening, so we have a big garden. I have a favorite neighbor nearby that I enjoy spending time with. We help each other with many of the chores associated with living in the country. We help each other with the mowing of our acreage when one of us is on vacation. No matter what chore one of us might be engaged in, the other one always pitches in. In 2012 we built a large pond on the back of our property. Upon completion, both households was engaged in some tractor work moving dirt, leveling, fertilizing and seeding grass seed. I remember these four days very well. It was in the nineties mid September and we spent four days melting down. Upon completion of our project my wife and I headed to northern Michigan for a week. Shortly after getting home it started raining and within three or four weeks we had nice green grass growing.
My wife and I are still both healthy and very active, as such we always find plenty to do at home and at our church home. During the fall months we head out for our trips, both on our own and on tour buses. We have come to love traveling via the tour buses. What an easy way to travel. Leaving the driving to someone else is the only way to go. October 2014 we went to Washington DC via the bus. Crossing the state of Pennsylvania and being able to take in the scenary instead of having to concentrate on my driving was breathtaking. The fall colors was absolutely wonderful. Each September we take a weeks trip to Traverse City and or Mackinac City Michigan on our own, then we start the tour bus vacations until around the first of December. My wife has been asking to take a cruise. To date she has not convinced me, but we most likely will. The trip to Alaska does sound appealing.
My wife and I are both very active in our church. We have an active and community minded church group from all walks of life. What a great group of people to worship our God with.
Life has been good to us, which we thank God for everyday.
November 2018 while on a trip to Branson, Missouri I had a mild heart attack one evening and ended up with a stent. Afterward I am finding that I get tired a lot quicker than I use to, but we are still taking trips and enjoyinmg life.
