Last Known Activity:

Captain Francis Egan served with the 20th Tactical Air Support Squadron, 6498th Air Base Wing, 7th Air Force out of Da Nang AB, RVN. His tour began on 27 January 1972. 

During the "Linebacker II" Campaign, he was conducting an FAC "Covey" mission when his OV-10A was hit by an SA-7 near Quang Tri, Quang Nam Province. He was killed when his parachute failed to deploy (while approaching the coast for recovery).  

His observer (Jonathan Patterson, callsign, "Wolfman 44") parachuted successfully.  He survived and was able to evade capture.

The location of Capt. Egan's remains is unknown.
