... as my wife says, if it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.
... somehow, I always find myself in the wrong place at the wrong time.
... here is a poem written by a Major D. O'Donnell during the Vietnam War. I wrote this on the wall inside one of the M-60 bunkers at Khobar Towers after we 'ate' a VBIED that took the lives of 19 of my fellow Airmen :
If You Are Able,
Save A Place For Them Inside Of You,
And Save A Backward Glance
When You Are Leaving,
For The Places They Can No Longer Go.
Be Not Ashamed To Say
You Loved Them,
Though You May Not Have Always.
Take What They Have Left,
And What They Have Taught You
With Their Dying,
And Keep It With Your Own.
And In That Time,
When Men Decide And Fell Safe,
To Call The War Insane,
Take One Moment
To Embrace Those Gentle Heroes
You Left Behind.
