His full name was Joseph Allen Dodge Park.
He was born in RI, lived for a while in MA, and was nominated to West Point from NH.
He served in the 24th Infantry then the 4th, 14th, & 8th Cavalry. He also spent some time in the Philippines before going to flight school and becoming a pilot.
He was one of the first 25 rated USAS Military Aviators.
His promotion to captain might have been posthumous.
From NY Times: ARMY AIRMAN DIES IN 15-FOOT PLUNGE; Lieut. Joseph D. Park Crushed to Death When Biplane Hits Tree in California. May 10, 1913, Saturday Page 11, 998 words LOS ANGELES, May 9. -- Lieut. Joseph D. Park, U.S.A., was killed to-day when a military biplane, which he was driving plunged its nose into a gulley, turned a somersault and crashed against a tree, at Olive, thirty-nine miles southeast of here. The aviator fell only fifteen feet, but the radiator crushed his head, and then fell upon his body.
