Leading a team of contracted security agents augmenting the NATO MPs at NATO HQ Allied Air Command on Ramstein Air Base. Main tasks include pass and registration activities, entry control, surveillance and general security.
I didn't actually have anything to do directly with C-141s (or any other aircraft for that matter) but it's special for me anyway. My warskill at Holloman was airlift load planner so I was trained to design cargo loads for 141s and all the other cargo aircraft of the period. The really special memory comes from flying home on emergency leave from Ramstein to McGuire on a 141. There were 4 Space-A pax and myself aboard and I was the only one of the bunch who couldn't sleep. After we were airborne for about an hour, the pilot came back and asked if I wanted to come up to the flight deck to warm up. I got to ride the rest of the way to McGuire in the jump seat and had a great time talking with the pilot and copilot.
