 Additional Information
Last Known Activity:

"On 1 April 1967 Major George Henry Jourdenais and his backseater, 1st Lt. Robert W. Stanley, Code Name: Sharkbait 51 (F-4C 64-8746), and two other F-4C fighters (Sharkbait 52 and 53) were assigned a mission to attack a suspected munitions depot in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam. After reaching the target area the Forward Air Controller (FAC) fired smoke flares at the intended target and Sharkbait 52 & 53 followed 51 in toward the target, dropping their ordnance and preparing for a second strike.

Apparently there were several secondary explosions after the first strike. The FAC undated the group before they made their second dive, but because of the smoke and debris, Sharkbait 51 couldn't initially see the target. Eventually, however, he spotted the target through the debris and dove onto the target - but he never came out of the dive, killing him and the backseater." Crash site discovered at Tam Ky, Thang Binhn, Thon Tam Hamlet, #4; Quang Nam Province, Danang, South Vietnam.

This Veteran has an (IMO) In Memory Of Headstone in Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial, Hawaii and another memorial in Willamette National Cemetery.
