TSgt Antone Patrick Marks was born in Rhode Island on 21 October 1931. He attended Nantuckett High School, graduating in 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force January 18, 1950.

After basic training, he attended surveyor school and was assigned active duty as a surveyor. By January 1954, he had attained the rank of A/1c and was classified as a senior surveyor while stationed with the 1st Charting & Mapping Squadron (1st CTS) located at Forbes AFB, KS.

In May 1954, he was assigned to Detachment One of the 1st CTS at Ramey AB, Puerto Rico. He then was assigned to the 1370 Photomapping Group at Ramey AB. In 1955, now a SSgt, he was assigned duty as a Data Computer with the 1373rd C & M Squadron located in Palm Beach AFB, FL. He worked at this duty until 1958 when hewas transferred to OL One of the 1373rd located at Orlando AFB, FL.

In 1959, he became a Computer Techniciam ans performed duty with the 1381st Geodetic Survey Squadron (Missile) at Orlando, AFB, FL.

He next reported for duty as a Survey Computer Technician to the 58th Tactical Missile Group (TacMslGp) at Osan AB, Korea. Evidently this was a 18-month tour as his next station was to Headquarters, 1st Radar Bonb Scoring Group at Carswell AFB, TX. In 1961, this organization was designated 10th Radar Bomb Scoring Squadron. He remained in place until 1962 when he was assigned to the 12th Radar Bomb Scoring Squadron at Turner AFB, GA. Here he was assigned duty as NCOIC Operations Survey Section, and was promoted to the rank of TSgt.

TSgt Marks remained at Turner AFB until July 1965 when he was assigned to Headquarters 1st Combat Evaluation Group located at Barksdale AFB, LA. In 1966, he was assigned to assist one of the ground-directed bombing radar sites in Vietnam.

He was serving on temporary duty at the ground-directed bombing site of OL 24, near Dong Ha, RVN on 5 June 1966, when, as part of a survey party attempting to locate a possible new location for the site, he was attacked and killed by Viet Cong. All members of the party, six in number, were recovered by units of the 4th Marines operating in the area and returned to Air Force Control. The remains were returned to the family for private burial.

TSgt Antone Patrick Marks left a wife and 4 children.

As were the other members of the survey party, TSgt Antone Marks was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal with "V" device and the Purple Heart Medal.
