Captain Barry Kenneth Allmond was from Ft. Worth, Texas and born on 2 February 1946. He was 26 and married when he was lost. Captain Allmond was a Sundog Forward Air Controller assigned to the 21st Tactical Air Support Squadron at Tan Son Nhut Airport at Saigon. He was flying aircraft O-2 S/N 68-11000 when he was hit in Binh Long Province South Vietnam. Captain Allmond was one of several FACs controlling air strikes in defense of the city of An Loc. An SA-7 SAM may have hit him; many were seen there after the 11th. Captain Allmond was a graduate of the Citadel and served 259 days in combat. His body was eventually recovered.
He was 1 of 7 Citadel Class of '68 members to be lost in Vietnam
