Narrative:
Attached to 19th Bomb Wing, 28th Bomb Squasdron, USAF, and named "Star Duster". On tactical mission, encountered poor weather at recovery airfield, and, low on fuel, crashed during landing approach at Airfield K-3 (Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea). All 13 crew killed, but only the remains of nine of the crew were recovered:

Airman Second Class ABNEY was a crew member of a B-29A Superfortress Bomber with the 28th Bomber Squadron, 19th Bomber Wing. As his aircraft was returning from a bombing mission, it crashed during the landing approach to Pohang Airfield (K-3), South Korea. All thirteen airmen were killed. Airman Second Class ABNEY was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

He is the son of Mabel WILDT.
