Last Known Activity Major Abbot was the pilot of an AC-47 with the 4th Air Commando Squadron (ACS), 6250th Combat Support Group, 13th Air Force, Tan Son Nhut AB.
The 4th Air Commando Squadron lost their first aircraft, AC-47D (#43-49492), on a courier flight between Tan Son Nhut and Phan Rang on 17 Dec 1965.
The wreckage was located on 23 December and the bodies of the nine men (four 4th ACS flight crew members and 5 passengers) on board the aircraft were recovered.
