Last Known Activity
He was piloting an HH-53B that was on its way to rescue the crew of an F-105G that had been shot down in North Vietnam. The helicopter exploded when hit by a missile fired from a MiG-21; none of the 6 men aboard survived. 
His remains were repatriated in 1988 and interred at Arlington in 1989 in Section 60 Grave 5387. He is also memorialized at the Honolulu Memorial, Courts of the Missing, Court A, and at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Section MA Site 38.
