Last Known Activity
Air Force Academy Graduate, Class of 1961- Captain Bull was killed in action on 26 August 1968 as a pilot of a C-7B  62-4177 which was on a resupply mission when he encountered hostile fire, which destroyed the starboard wing of his plane, causing it to spin and crash about 10 nm southeast of An Loc. He was serving as a Pilot for the 475 TAC Airlift Squadron at Cam Ranh Bay ABSVN at the time. He had also participated in airlift missions and as a ground controller for the Military Airlift Command at Tan Son Nhut. He had completed over 100 combat sorties and over 400 combat hours. He was known for his enthusiasm for all in which he was involved. Bull's name is on the Graduate Honor Roll at the Catholic Cadet Chapel and on the USAFA War Memorial for his sacrifice for and dedication to the country.

When his aircraft lost the wing and went into a spin, it crashed, exploding and killing all three crewmen. They were:

CPT Robert George Bull, II, Marlboro, New York
1LT Ralph William Manners, New Hyde Park, New York
SGT David Frederick Sleeper, Framingham, Massachusetts
