TSgt. James Galey had enlisted in the USAAF at Fort MacArthur, San Pedro, California 19 February 1945. (Resident of Los Angeles, California since at least 1930, father a police officer).

In Vietnam, TSgt. James Galey possibly served as an aircraft mechanic or a field closely related as he'd enlisted in USAAF in that capacity.

He was killed in a rocket attack on Bien Hoa AB, 28 February 1968.

USAF personnel killed at Bien Hoa AB during that attack: (14 at Bien Hoa by 32 Standoff rockets, 2 others killed at Tan Son Nhut AB.)
