REMEMBRANCE IN PROGRESS - SUBJECT TO CHANGE ------- Arrived in Country 30  Jan 68 -------  Served with HQ 3rd CSG 3rd TFW------- 32 rounds of Stand Off rockets were fired resulting in SSgt Hayes and 13 other airmen being killed and 24 wounded at Bien Hoa. Five acft were destroyed  in the same attack on the base that day. This was probably associated with Tet Offensives occurring in that period of time. ------- From Namnesia: 1968 Willard Fayette Hayes from Bandy, VA born on 12/18/1939 holding the rank of SSGT in the Air Force is listed as Causality number 23183 -------
The location of his remains is unknown.
