TSgt. Hutton was killed at Tan Son Nhut during a mortar attack on the base. 16 men were killed in the attacks of 28 Feb- 1 March 1968; and the base was and had been under rocket and mortar attack for several days.

He left a wife, Shirley, in Roswell, New Mexcio.
