Airman Uhlik suffered severe burns due to a munitions explosion at Korat RTAFB, Thailand on March 11th, 1968. He subsequently died from his injuries at the Clark AFB Hosiptal on March 15th, 1968.  He was 19 years old.

His name was added to "The Wall' in the mid 1980's and is also engraved in the Monroe County, Michigan Vietnam Memorial.
