CMSCLS_RAF Lakenheath UK_1989. BIOGRAPHY Command Chief Master Sergeant Chalma Lee Sexton, Jr., USAF (Retired) Command Chief Master Sergeant (Retired) Chalma Lee Sexton, Jr., was born August 9, 1950, in New Orleans, LA. He joined the United States Air Force on August 17, 1970, following graduation from Warren Easton Senior High School, New Orleans LA. His military career includes fourteen permanent assignments around the globe and numerous temporary and contingency deployments. He was promoted to Chief Master Sergeant on November 1, 1987. He retired from the Air Force on February 1, 1999, following 28.5 years of outstanding service. He is the author of the military historical monograph, USAF Chief Master Sergeant Former Prisoners of War and Missing in Action, published by The Airmen Memorial Museum. Some of his most memorable experiences include serving as an Air Division and Wing Command Chief Master Sergeant, leading the response to more than 100 anti-nuclear protests, resulting in over 1,200 apprehensions, assisting the United States Air Force Judge Advocate General's Office in preparing for a major landmark case before the United States Supreme Court, providing tactical leadership for the Air Force Special Emergency Service Flight, during the 1979 Iranian Hostage Crisis and protective services for the President of the United States. Chief Sexton is a graduate of all levels of Air Force professional military education. He was a Distinguished Graduate from the 15th Air Force NCO Leadership School and Class Speaker Award winner. He was a Distinguished Graduate from the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy, "THE WEST POINT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT." He holds two Masters Degrees in Management and Human Resources, and Police Administration. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. He also holds Community College of the Air Force Associate Degrees in Police Science, Industrial Security and Instructional Technology. He is a Master Technical Training Instructor. Chief Sexton was the first Air Force Security Forces Senior NCO to win the Lance P. Sijan USAF Leadership Award - the Air Force's highest leadership honor. He is a former Strategic Air Command (SAC) Senior NCO of the Year. His awards and decorations include, the Meritorious Service Medal with 3 OLCs, Air Force Commendation Medal with 3 OLCs, Air Force Achievement Medal with 1 OLC, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 8 OLCs, Air Force Recognition Ribbon, Outstanding Airman of the Year Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 1 BS, and the Air Force Small Arms Expert Ribbon with 1 BS. The Chief is married to Technical Sergeant Leslie E. Sexton, USAF (Retired). They have one daughter, Heather. (Current as of November 28, 2010)
