One of the tasks of the RC-135T was to photograph incoming warheads of Soviet ICBMs and any anti-missile missiles fired at them. All missions were conducted with the targets on the right side of the plane. That is why the right wing and engines are painted flat black to reduce glare and reflections in the cameras.
