Code-named Salty Demo, this five-week-long exercise demonstrated the importance and effectiveness of concealment, camouflage, and deception devices in the face of a traditional, large-scale enemy attack on a "friendly" air base. Salty Demo included chemical warfare, runway repair, and simulated runway damage. On the basis of initial assessments, the exercise proved the signifiant payoff from low-cost CCD investments.
