PIT to Westover at FL250 in a C130A and the outer glass panel next to my head exploded while standing behind the Pilot. If the inner had shattered I would have been sucked out and fell all over New York State.

Two years in the Reserves. I was a civilian at PIT a GS-13 and my boss was a GS-7. Interesting!

Unlike the Operation Rolling Thunder and Operation Linebacker interdiction operations, Linebacker II, would be a "maximum effort" bombing campaign to "destroy major target complexes in the Hanoi and Haiphong areas which could only be accomplished by B-52s." It saw the largest heavy bomber strikes launched by the US Air Force since the end of World War II.
