Major McElhanon is shown here with me, Geoff Kirkham in the summer of 1968 prior to him flying this flag on a combat mission over North Vietnam. I worked with the Major in 37 TAC Fighter Wing, Wing Safety. This flag was then sent home to Hebron, Ct. where it was raised and flown at a memorial dedication and service honoring Marine PFC James C. Batson killed in action on Easter day March 26th, 1967. I remember both these men often.
