Army, Navy and Coast Guard boats
8 of 10
from  26 years with Chris-Craft, America's Oldest Power Boat Builder  album
Thousands of boats and launches were build by over a hundred different boat builders for the war. One was Chris-Craft who had three plants in Michigan, Algonac - Cadillac - Holland. They built: Amphibian Command and Q Boats for the Army; and Picket Boats, Personnel and Vehicle Landing Craft for the Navy. They also furnished some of the DUKW (ducks). Both of my father's brothers worked for Chris-Craft. My uncle Stan worked for Chris-Craft during WWII building boats for the Army, Navy and Coast Guard. His twin brother, my uncle Ken, served in the Pacific with the 5th Army Air Corps. Both were lifelong carpenters. Ken returned from the war and joined Chris-Craft at the Cadillac Michigan plant for 26 years until he retired. Stan worked there for 10 years and left to built houses. The twins turned 90 together earlier this year. (2006)
