LTC Morris C. Crossen, Deputy Commander of the 367th FG with his ground crew at Clastres airfield (A-71), France, 11 October 1944. Nine days later he would lead a dive bombing mission near Koln, Germany which would claim his life. Pulling off his initial run "Bandits" were reported, and he gave chase to an Fw-190. Hit by flak during the descent, his right engine was set ablaze. As he pulled up, his wingman lost sight of him. Two other pilots were lost that day as well (MACR 9646).
P-38J 44-23521 "Stinker III" assigned to LTC Morris C. Crossen, deputy commander of the 367th FG. He was flying this aircraft when he was KIA 20 October 1944 (MACR 9646).
