Underpowered - Equipped with Wright Cyclone R-3350 engines & Curtis Electric props also usad de-icing boots arther than the heated leading edges enjoyed by the later models. Worked well with B-29 airframe but the YC-97s had too much flat plate area for power available. On;y 6 YC-97s were built, one crashed and we had the remaining five at Hickham. Used mainly for inter-island work and periodic runs to the mainland.
