I am standing in front of the City Lights Bookstore in San Francisco. It was mnde famous by the Beat poets, Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac, etc. We always visit it when we go to the Bay area. The last time we were there in 2004, I noticed that it was across the intersection from the Condor Club. The Condor Club was the home of Carol Doda; men of my age know her as the first topless dancer and the woman who pioneered breast implants. I spent my last night in the US before shipping out to Vietnam watching her perform (November 25, 1966). I was underage at age 18, but in uniform and with an Army Sergeant who was heading back for his second tour, so I got in without any hassle.
