This plaque is here to dedicate this putting green to a man whose courage, charisma, devotion to duty, and fearlessness when expressing his beliefs have inspired us all.
General Olds was a hero in the true sense of the word. He changed the way aerial combat was fought. He inspired his men to accomplish things that they did not think were possible.
The legend of Robin Olds is not just aerial victories. Most important were the little things: The late night visits to the men in the shops, sampling the food his troops were eating, demanding that bureaucrats serve his men well, leading his men in song. Robin believed in the little things and he believed in his men. He inspired devotion because his me knew how much he cared.
In 2 wars separated by 23 years, Robiin Olds flew 259 combat missions and is credited with a final tally of 17 downed planes. Other decorations include the Air Force Cross, the Silver Star with 3 oak leaf clusters, the Distinguished Flying Cross with 4 oak leaf clusters, and an Air Medal with 39 oak leaf clusters.
This plaque is donated in loving memory from his family, friends, members and staff of Rollingstone Ranch Golf Club
Thanks for all that you did!
