42" Crash Boat operated off Rey Island on the Pacific side of Panama.
In Feb '50, this boat was loaded and sent to Bolling AFB, Washington, DC. While there it was used as both a Ferry and a Crash Boat. It was modified after it got there so it was more presentable given its location. I am unable to find any further details, such as its induction into the inventory, or what happened to it when the base downsized and dumped its boats. There apparently were some boats maintained until around 1973, but the Base Historian is unable to finger this particular boat and its history there.
Maxwell AFB also is unable to provide any further info on this boat or the boats at Bolling AFB. Sad!
