Best Friends Major Jim McCarthy, Major Numes, Col. Ray Nash, Capt. Walt Brinkman, Maj. Fred Kirby and me - the "A Team" at Bomber Ops (one hell of a great group that loved to party together and work our asses off on those 12 hour shifts).
Best Moment When I got my Staff Sgt. stripe, I told my boss who was also an E-5 to bug off since we were of equal rank. He just loved to pick on me and it felt good to speak my mind.
Worst Moment Enduring the rain during monsoon season at U-Tapao. It was a good thing that I was living in those new 3-story concrete barracks.
Other Memories Working the 12 hour shifts was routine for everyone. I'd go to the beach on-base whenever I could. I had a fishing pole but never caught anything off the beach. It was a great distraction to pass the time. There were the occasional visits to Newland and Pattaya. I went to Bangkok at least twice and once to Chang Mai.
