Captain Harvey Mulhauser was a navigator with the 12th Air Commando Squadron aboard a UC-123B which was sent on a defoliation mission on 31 January 1967.
The crew that day included
Major Lloyd F. Walker, pilot
Capt. Howard L. Barden, navigator
Capt. Roy R. Kubley, co-pilot
Capt. Harvey Mulhauser, navigator
Airman 1st Class Ronald K. Miyazaki, flight mechanic.
The aircraft had leveled off and started spraying when it suddenly inverted and crashed. Further investigation revealed that hostile fire struck the propeller causing the crash. The crash occurred about 5 miles south-southwest of Sepone in Savannakhet Province, Laos. All crewmembers were eventually determined to have been killed in the crash of the aircraft. . .
In 26 August 1992, a joint U.S./Lao team surveyed the aircraft's reported crash site. Witnesses and wreckage appeared to correlate the site to this loss incident but there were no remains or personal effects discovered. One witness reported having seen burned bone fragments on the scene but none were found during the joint team's visit.
