Last Known Activity:

Lt Gilchrist and his backseater, 1st Lt Eugene Matthew Pabst were sent out on a reconnaissance mission over North Vietnam near the city of Ba Don. During the mission, their aircraft was hit by ground fire as it pulled up from an attack on a truck park near Tu Loan, 25 miles northwest of Doug Hoi, It crashed almost immediately killing both crewmen. Both men were listed as being Missing In Action and were promoted to the rank of Major while on that status. He was declared dead Mar 6, 1978.

This Veteran has an (IMO) In Memory Of Headstone in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver Colorado.
