Date of Passing May 31, 2004
Location of Interment Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (VA) - San Antonio, Texas
I was stationed with Barbara in 1965-1967 and was Best Man at she and Terrys wedding in 1966 at Turner AFB. Chapel in the Pines. The Chapel was across from the 822nd. Med.Group base hospital where we all worked. It was a beautiful ceremony on a flawless day.
Barbara was one of my best friends at work and she even co-signed an auto loan for me since I was not 21 yet. Later on we used to all go to the drag races in east Albany Ga. on weekends. I recall that we watched Don Gay race his then famous GTO Tiger Pontiac from Chicago Ill. Of course he didnt lose. Dreadfully, Barbara passed away in 2004, a really lovely person..
Terry and I still keep in touch and he and his wife Julia reside 5 miles from our retirement home in Georgia. The wife and I have owned a home in Tifton for years.
We all loved and miss you Barbara and we will all meet again someday and see if Don Gay is still winning races. Your good friend forever, Stan McElroy
Worst Moment While assisting Barbara and Terry move into another Apt. off of Dawson Rd. in Albany Georgia, Barbara had borrowed a USAF truck from the motor pool to move the furniture. She had signed for the truck and had to be the driver by USAF rules. I was in front of Barbara with her 1964 Chevy conv. when I saw smoke billowing from under the truck. Barbara had never driven a Dodge truck with the driveshaft emergency brake before and she had left the brake locked. I ended up stopping traffic and rolling under the truck to beat the flames out. For Barbara we would do anything in those days. Stan
