Augst Byron was borm and raised in Blaine Washington in 1918.  He joined the Army Air Corp in April 1941. After basic training he was assigned to the 8th Air Force's First Air Division, 94th Combat Wing. He was was then sent to join the newly formed 351st Bombardment Group (Heavy) at Geiger Field, Spokane, Washington. He was further trained and assigned to the 854th Chemical Company and promoted to staff sergeant.

He was deployed with this unit to Polebrook RAF Station in England, arriving in May 18th, 1943. He served there until November 1945 and was on the HMS Queen Mary for his trip home.

Following his honorable discharge he settled in Bellingham Washington and raised his family of 2 daughters and 2 sons with his new wife Marjie (whom was part of the RAF Auxiallary near Polebrook AFB in England). August lived out his final years in his family home of 62 years. He passed peacefully in his sleep at the age of 94 at his home.
