Major Robert Coady served with the 602nd Special Operations Squadron, Nakhon Phanom Airfield, Thailand
He was the pilot of an A-1H Skyraider on a a first light search and recovery mission to pick up the 2-man crew of an F-4D that was shot down the afternoon before. During the recovery operations, his aircraft was shot down.
Remains believed to be those of Major Coady were repatriated on 10 Feb 1994. Positive identification was announced by the government on 28 Nov 2001.
A memorial stone had been placed in Arlington National Cemetery before Major Coady's recovery
