During WWII, 1st Lt. Myers flew the P-38, and later the P-51 scoring 1 victory (shoot down of an ME-109 and a shared FW-190) on 5 December 1944. He flew with the 436th Fighter Squadron, 479th Fighter Group, 8th AIr Force out of RAF Wattisham Station 377, near Wattisham, Suffolkshire, England.
Major Myers was the pilot of an F-80C Shooting Star fighter interceptor (#49-702) with the 16th Fighter-Interceptor Squadron, 51st Fighter-Interceptor Group.
On 2 October 1950, while on a combat mission, his aircraft received a direct hit by anti-aircraft fire, and he bailed out five miles southeast of Singosan, Korea. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on 31 March 31 1954.

Note: As an aside flew with then Major Robin Olds among other famous pilots of later wars.
The unit flew escourt for B-17s and B-24s on their missions, took part in the D-Day operation, St. Lo siege, Battle of the Bulge, airfield attacks in France, etc..
