Last Known Activity
He died during a flare drop mission. An A-1E fighter-bomber had a bomb that failed to release, the pilot began to climb and at the same time was trying to shake the bomb free. During this process, the A-1E collided with the C-123B and exploded. There were no survivors from either aircraft. (source unknown)
