Captain McClellan was killed by enemy fire during strafing and bombing runs to aid American troops during the Battle of the Ia Drang. 

This Veteran has an (IMO) In Memory Of Headstone in Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial, Hawaii and Mount Hope Cemetery, Salem Marion County, Oregon, Plot: Section B Lot 1.
