In the late 1960s, Mr. Bartley became the business manager of Edward Waters College where he remained for several years until securing his real estate brokerage license and opening Bartley Real Estate in the 1970s in downtown Jacksonville. He retired in the mid-1980s.

Mr. Bartley was affiliated with the Tuskegee University Alumni Club and the Stanton Alumni Group of 1935.
