Enjoying retirement in Alabama. We moved here from Fairfax Station, VA in December 1997 and have enjoyed it very much. We discovered this area while assigned to the Air Force Data Systems Design Center, Gunter AFB, AL. We live near Lake Martin, a 40,000 acre lake with over 750 miles of shoreline - great fishing and several golf courses in the area. I became involved with a volunteer fire department here and progressed thru firefighter certification, EMT-B, taught emergency vehicle driving course (ambulance) and several other jobs including Assistant Chief. After 14 years with them I hung up that hat also and am now enjoying family time and travel.
