Flew on C-47 on TDY mission to Torrejon Air Base in Spain (SAC). Pilot almost lost the airplane over the mountains outbound from Bordeaux. Pilot forgot to transfer fuel over to 2nd engine, when first engine coughed dry! Third close call for writer since being in the Air Force.

Over 10,000 aircraft were produced in Long Beach and Santa Monica, California and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Oklahoma City plant produced 5,354 C-47s from March 1943 until August 1945.
