I was a US Army UH-1H Crew Chief and later Tech. Inspector. My HUEY was 65-9874 and she is now located at Eagle County Airport, Vale Colorado as a static display Memorial Aircraft. In my experience with the "Huey"; it was a dependable Work Horse of an aircraft. I bet my life on her and she never let me down.
The machine was simple to work on, durable and easy to fly. I flew missions rigged as a Gun Ship, "Slick" (Troop Carrier), Sling Load cargo a/c, Fire Fighter (250 gal. Bucket), Air Ambulance and as the Governor of Florida's VIP Transport. All together I logged about 2000 hours flight time in the Huey out of my 3500 hours of total flight time in the military. lg
