With the exception of 2 leave times, 1 in 1943 and 1 in 1944, he was commander of the 65th Fighter Sq. from May 1943 to May 1945. He was credited with destroying 3 enemy aircraft in aerial combat plus 2 probables. He was flying an F-84 Thunderjet when he was killed in a post-war crash in the US.
