While serving as a Weapons Control Tech with Det 2, 623rd AC&W Sq. I participated in War Game Missions with A-7's from the USS Ranger Battle Group operating in the West Pacific and the East China Sea.
Years later while stationed in Panama with the 114th Army Aviation Company (Blue Knights) at Howard AFB; The USAF flew A-7's in the Ground Attack Role to support US Army Beach Landings. These landings were a part of the Jungle School training of the 53rd Infantry Brigade (SEP) of the Florida Army National Guard. I was assigned as a Huey Crew Chief in the Aviation Section of the Headquarters And Headquarters Company. We operated as the 3rd Platoon of the 114th Aviation Company, 193rd Inf Bde (Air Mobile) US Army.
