Personal Memories
Kume Jima Radar Station (Det 2, 623rd AC&W Squadron) known as "Habu Hill" was the ground control station for U-2 flight operations in the 313th Air Division Area of Operations. The "Dragon Lady" operated from Kadena Air Base, Okinawa (OL-2) and flights were conducted over China, Formosa, Japan and North Korea. I was assigned as a Weapons Control Tech and worked Flight Follow on many of these flight operations.
