He served in the Philippines and various places in the US. He devoted his life to the development of the Army Air Corps.
He was serving as assistant supervisor for the Eastern Air Corps procurement district and was the Air Corps representative at the Glenn L. Martin Aircraft Company when killed in a B-26 crash during an acceptance flight. He was the USAAF's most experienced B-26 pilot at the time.
The former Perrin AFB, Sherman, TX, was named for him.
