A few years ago stepped back from the day to day operation of our family business, putting it in the hands of our youngest brother. Spent the next six months doing crossword with mother, God rest her soul. My proficiency level shot up to 7-0. Got bored and there it was, right next to the puzzle "Help Wanted Golf Course" Wow got in the car punched in the coordinance, turned on the atuopilot, and the next thing you know I was cutting grass in a beautiful setting, birds a'singing and ducking little white "in-coming" projectiles. Asked for advice from the boss. He replyed, you were in the service? I said yes Air Force...He said Situational Awareness. .... more to come....

and depending on which side of the camp you were on, you could be in Tennessee. If memory serves me ... a red paint line running thru a mess hall showing the Kentucky/Tenn demarcation.

Two week of mostly standby time, brought along five C-141s from Dover AFB and various support personnel. Set up in large open bay barracks, got my first taste of Pinochle. Could not get enough of it. I was hooked.

First joined in New Jersey a club that I passed daily on my way home from work. The thing that really got my attention was how often they placed our flag at half staft. I always remembered a reg that said max of three times a year unless otherwise directed by congress. These folks are about 8to10/yr. Got curious one day, you see the flag was down again, stopped in as a visitor to see what-up. ...to be continued... Bar tender asks for membership card, fellow sitting right there waisted no time in signing me in under his responsiability. Nice place, nice people and 100% all were veterans. People you can trust while drinking, not your usual local yokels. Walking around the place, they had a dedication in an anteroom about a young marine from their town who gave all in Viet Nam at the tender age of 19. I joined and upon returning for a drink, on a thursday, on the way home from work, the place was crowded for 6 P.M. ....more to come.... Come 7 P.M. I looked up from a punch board and 40 fellow drinkers are gone, missing !! Me and two others are sitting there with the bartender, I said to her "Where did everybody go?" She replyed, it's 3rd thursday post meeting night. I asked where is the meeting she said second floor but you can not take the beer with you. I found a standing room only with 55 members up there, having a lively back and forth, but in a very respectful, getting things worked out, sort of way. I'm really impressed now with this post.
