Best Friends I arrived from Lackland on 28 DEC 61 and was assigned to the 3704th School Squadron to complete the final two weeks of Basic Military Training and to attend Apprentice Radar Operators School AFSC 27330A. I completed my Basic Instruction and graduated from Basic Military Training on 15 JAN 62 and Graduated from Radar Operators School on 28 FEB 62. I finished first in my class and was awarded a sterling silver USAF ring by my instructor. I recieved "Pipeline" student orders to Detachment 2, 623rd AC&W Squadron located on Kume Jima Island; 50 miles west of Okinawa in the East China Sea.
