Reflections on CMSgt Johnson's
US Air Force Service
WHETHER YOU WERE IN THE SERVICE FOR SEVERAL YEARS OR AS A CAREER, PLEASE DESCRIBE THE DIRECTION OR PATH YOU TOOK. WHERE DID YOU GO TO BASIC TRAINING AND WHAT UNITS, BASES, OR SQUADRONS WERE YOU ASSIGNED TO? WHAT WAS YOUR REASON FOR LEAVING?
It seems as though I did not have a path to follow. As one DCM put it, "Joe, Whaa's your problem? Can't you hold a job." The only thing I can say is that I enjoyed the patrh I took which was to do as many things as possible and not limit myself to one career field.
On a number of ocassions I did make decisions based on the premise that individuals told me "You can't do that." I never let that stand in my way. There were also thos individuals wo told me I had to do it their way. I didn't always beloeve them either.
My path was diverse and enjoyable for the most part. I am only sorry that it was cut short by an Airr Force policy that limits asignments because of Specialty Quotas.
