The most famous C-130 photo of the Vietnam War. It shows a 29th TAS C-130B on the runway with airstrikes in the background. It was taken by A1C Marion L. Ray, from 315th Air Division.
This photo was taken at Khe Sanh by A1C M.L. Ray, the Vietnam editor of the 315th Air Division newspaper, The Airlifter. Contrary to popular belief, it was NOT taken during the siege. It was actually taken in October 1967 and the smoke is from burning garbage.
