Served in Korea and Vietnam during both wars.
Awards and Decorations included Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star for action in KoreaVietnam - details are pending - and AF Commendation Medal, AF Longevity Service Ribbon, A F. Good Conduct Medal w/one Silver Oak Leaf Cluster and one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Korea and Vietnam Service Medals,
G C Medal with 1Slvr and 2 Brnz OLC, AFLSM with 1 Slvr OLC, National Def Svc Medal, Vietnam Svc Medal. Other decorations are pending conformation. He was a graduate of the Tactical Air Command Leadership School and Non-Commissioned Officers Academy.
Gene attended Curtis Public School, Newberry High School,, and had a vefry brief stint at Michigan State Univ., Lansing, MI which ended suddenly when he enlisted for service in the Air Force at the outbreak of the Korean War in 1950.
Gene worked for the Cuyahoaga Railroad in Cleveland, OH for many years after leaving the Air Force, and drove horse drawn carriages on Michigan's famed Mackinac Island (No motor vehicles except for emergency vehicles are allowed on Mackinac Island) for several summers too, after leaving the Air Force in 1975.
I last talked to Gene at the funeral for Capt.William (Bill) Gowan, USAF, Ret. last summer where we discussed his brother Maj. Francis J. Feneley (See this page,) his sister.
Gene was to be 82 on Christmas Day.
So long, old friend you are already sorely missed.
